Zelenskyy’s clear message to Trump ahead of precious metals deal: “If we don’t get security guarantees…”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made statements about the precious metals agreement expected to be signed between the US and Ukraine. Zelenskyy stated that he hopes the agreement will "lead to more agreements in the future" with the US, and that no security guarantees have yet been accepted by the US. Zelenskyy, who spoke of a "jointly owned fund" into which 50% of Ukraine's natural resource revenues will be transferred, said it was too early to talk about money. Zelenskyy, who stated that his team had been pushing the US side to include a statement of support for security guarantees for Ukraine in the agreement text, but that no concrete decision had yet been made, said, "I wanted to include a sentence on security guarantees for Ukraine, and it is important that this be the case."

"HE WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY BACK EVEN 10 CENTS"

Regarding US President Donald Trump's previous demand that Ukraine repay billions of dollars in military aid the US has provided to date, Zelenskyy said that under this agreement Ukraine "will not have to pay back even 10 cents."

Zelenskyy said he would "very clearly ask" Trump if the US would continue to support Ukraine if he visits the White House on Friday.

"NO CEASE-FIRE"

Asked whether he would abandon the deal if Trump did not provide the security guarantees he wanted, Zelenskyy said: "I want to find a way through NATO or something like that. If we do not get security guarantees, there will be no ceasefire, nothing will work, nothing."
